Drying and treatment of pallets
A large part of the production is intended for use in the food industry. Therefore the pallets need to meet high quality standards. They must be delivered dry and fungus-free.
For export to certain countries the pallets should meet the ISPM15 norm. This standard is observed by giving the pallets a heat treatment (centre temperature of 56°C during 30 minutes).
To satisfy the increasing demand for these dried and/or heat-treated pallets, the company disposes of 5 dry kilns. These are fed with recycled energy from an incineration plant running on biomass.
The humidity and temperature of the pallets is measured fully automatically and if necessary, adjusted during the drying phase and the heat-treatment.
If requested by the customer, the wood can be chemically treated with a product approved by the Ministry of Public Health. This surface treatment protects the wood against fungus growth.
